This is the start of my Christmas Cards that I have made for Overseas Postage, 2012. Where possible I have tried to keep the depth of the card to a minimum thus with a bit of luck I should be able to keep the cost of postage down.<br />
<br />
This has proved to be a challenge for me as I like the layer and 3D effect in cards as I think it gives dimension and lifts the card to another level.<br />
<br />
Anyway here is the first of the cards. This is a pre-cut aperture card, and I have covered the opening with some velum that I embossed using the Cuttlebug snow fall embossing folder. The decoupage I have used a small Christmas corner with a maximum of two layers.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6RPqsm1ohVHvsln61K8ag_VpkwID6MlpGZDxcxFm_mjEg_mwlzWjJky2pIZ_-BsxKvUdyrVoVx7Fn9e3fucc_aCb9SECxqmyNxn52ZxBgky6NsIOJt0ex8oNTHBTUpjaAHS7OodyTJxM/s1600/IMG_1918.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6RPqsm1ohVHvsln61K8ag_VpkwID6MlpGZDxcxFm_mjEg_mwlzWjJky2pIZ_-BsxKvUdyrVoVx7Fn9e3fucc_aCb9SECxqmyNxn52ZxBgky6NsIOJt0ex8oNTHBTUpjaAHS7OodyTJxM/s320/IMG_1918.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This card I have used a simple triangle fold card. This allows a square section of the card to stand out on its own. It is very effective and just gives the card that little bit of magic. What I like about this shape (and the instructions for this can be found on the Joanna Sheen tutorials page) is that I have managed to reduce the size so that it will fit in a normal square sized envelope.<br />
<br />
<br />
The gold ribbon I picked up from a dollar shop and the holly flourish is cut from a Cheery Lynn Die. The white tape is from Marianne Design. And the decoupage is from some things that I have lying around from last year.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12744951065299701551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-620203648139376004.post-52771204543155519102011-04-29T23:30:00.001-07:002011-04-29T23:31:22.355-07:00Mother's Day Card 2011<div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVZ_8Xit_4O09775cjnlboJOvbxaCztmrWWJGOvPvFPQp8XAhCvIcbTtHOD1qDVpD70cODlhPsts-5HbR6NV-0mxyp-fNpccPCQQuDdI033NjzQn6kj-bPFABgYJFji11XMjoc4oorZJo/s1600/Mother%2527s-day-card-2011.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 400px; height: 300px; float: left; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601260371049769090" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVZ_8Xit_4O09775cjnlboJOvbxaCztmrWWJGOvPvFPQp8XAhCvIcbTtHOD1qDVpD70cODlhPsts-5HbR6NV-0mxyp-fNpccPCQQuDdI033NjzQn6kj-bPFABgYJFji11XMjoc4oorZJo/s400/Mother%2527s-day-card-2011.jpg" /></a><br /><div></div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12744951065299701551noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-620203648139376004.post-60941403465816585512011-04-29T23:26:00.000-07:002011-04-29T23:29:56.129-07:00Hugs For You<div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw8dSP2PschBALcQnC8RhavoHoMw4whrDixvybvSiphHOGwg4Lhcd4P5Mustp2B1FTLGte2Z_enL6JQwEM_dFRsvfL3sguuY3ZS4_fOQW4y1ACUExcYSprlvPv1T18o0WH-wxipEgnMGA/s1600/Dragonflies.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 274px; height: 400px; float: left; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601259502508846482" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw8dSP2PschBALcQnC8RhavoHoMw4whrDixvybvSiphHOGwg4Lhcd4P5Mustp2B1FTLGte2Z_enL6JQwEM_dFRsvfL3sguuY3ZS4_fOQW4y1ACUExcYSprlvPv1T18o0WH-wxipEgnMGA/s400/Dragonflies.jpg" /></a>This is the Hugs For You Card. She collects Hummel figurines and I thought a card with a Hummel figure would be a good idea.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Perfect Pearls has been used to create the swirls on the base card. Vellum has been used to create the "window" on the card. The window just behind the figure was stencilled and embossed with a V&A stencil. I used black card stock to make the base cards and the card below also had a piece of interfacing attached to the card to soften the words , thus ensuring that they don't dominate the card. When I asked her about trying to make a card for Mother's day last year. She told me about a vase template.<br /><br />So off I went to the Sales and picked up a cheap bunch of silk flowers that I could cut up for this project.<br /><br />I managed to find some cheap plastic glitter card and thought it would be great for the vase. But, boy! was it hard to work with. The crease/fold lines in the vase were far from perfect. So I added peel-off borders to these to try and hide some of the imperfections.<br /><br />This worked a treat and I was delighted with the end result. As for Kay, well she was amazed that I had gone to so much effort - and this card was on display well after Mother's Day was over.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12744951065299701551noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-620203648139376004.post-36875221407559325892011-02-28T23:30:00.000-08:002011-02-28T23:37:02.140-08:00Butterflies - Thank You<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdikZy2sqkRYngMBu50XqR8h_aSc-MUl7JVK91UPNpmdAG60mURetvIjUpEeZfsf87c_x5xIjGz2uFntAJIGTG1ljJ8Xhc-ihRFeKJsUZuScSTx7lDULuh6ElK4L2L0QS9_MgYPEAu214/s1600/Picture-103.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5579011211615430962" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdikZy2sqkRYngMBu50XqR8h_aSc-MUl7JVK91UPNpmdAG60mURetvIjUpEeZfsf87c_x5xIjGz2uFntAJIGTG1ljJ8Xhc-ihRFeKJsUZuScSTx7lDULuh6ElK4L2L0QS9_MgYPEAu214/s320/Picture-103.jpg" /></a> This card was very simple to make and did not involve any fancy equipment. As I am always looking for suggestions on how to improve or see things from a different <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">perspective</span> - I welcome any constructive comments.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12744951065299701551noreply@blogger.com0
