Hugs For You

This is the Hugs For You Card. I've tried to go back an edit the previous blog posting but site will not accept any changes.

This card is was done to say Thank You to some other friends that we shall be seeing on our visit to the US.

Butterflies 3

I got a lot of pleasure from making this card and I really hope the recipient likes it. The card was made as a Thank You Card to some friend shared their Easter with us.

The butterfly decoupage was from Papermania, the foil was from Debbie Moore.

I embossed the top and bottom of the card with a border from cuttlebug and coloured this using my promarkers pens. The decoupage was enhanced with some glitter glue and then a glaze was painted on top.

The foil vellum was stuck to the card by double sided tape, at the top and along where the decoupage sits. The top of the vellum was then covered with a strip of paper to hide the double sided tape.

Gem stones were then added to the borders along with a peel-off butterfly.

Poppies

This is a card that I have made to Thank some people in the States that shall be sharing their home with us during our visit there in a few weeks.

The card is made from La Pash Poppies easel design. I cut out the poppies from the square background and used my own background made from white and navy card stock. The white card I daub with blue ink to represent sky. The poppies I lacquered with 3D crystal glaze.

I also used a ribbon punch to create the square on the base of the card and inter weaved these together.

Last but not least was the addition of peel-offs and gemstones.

Hummel Card

This is a card that I made for Kay's birthday. She collects Hummel figurines and I thought a card with a Hummel figure would be a good idea.

Perfect Pearls has been used to create the swirls on the base card. Vellum has been used to create the "window" on the card. The window just behind the figure was stencilled and embossed with a V&A stencil. The flourish is from the Marianne Creatables Series.

Then gemstones and glitter glue was added to the flourish along with peel off borders around the first "window"

Feedback from Jackie is a suggestion that I use black pen or a black ink pad to paint the edges of the cut decoupage. So when I do my decoupage card; I will try this.

This is a card that I did at Tash's class. It was very simple to do and the card looks very elegant.

This is not my design all credit goes to Tash for this one, but I just had to show it off.

Clowns

My first attempt at Cantilever cards. I'm still not sure that I have mastered the technique and will maybe need to work on it some more.

Once I've mastered it - I will write an instruction on what works for me.

Easel Card

This card was made using two A5 cards. The base card was used to make the easel and the second A5 card was stuck together to make the picture.

Stamps were borrowed from Kim and these were stamped onto cream paper and cut out and attached to the card.

Again the back ground paper was from bits of old papers that one keeps around, just in case they can be of use.

Butterflies

These cards were made from old scraps of paper that I had stashed around the house in the hope of using them one day. I used black card stock to make the base cards and the card below also had a piece of interfacing attached to the card to soften the words , thus ensuring that they don't dominate the card. All the butterflies have had 3D dimension glazed painted on them.

Elegance

Another inspiration from Debbie Moore.

Masks

You will see from this card that I've discovered Debbie Moore. This was a simple card to do with the masks stamped and cut out then lots of feathers and bling added.

Just a Note

This card I made with the help of Kim, she came up with the idea for the pop-up and I played around with with the various papers that I had available and came up with this. The idea was to use it for a friends birthday, but the date has now past and it is being kept for another occasion.

Ten Pin Bowling

This is a card that I made for Ken, who plays ten pin bowling. As I was unable to find any stamps or embellishments with this theme; I used some scrap booking paper and cut out the bowling balls and pins from it.

Flowers - Kay

This card was inspired by Jane. When I asked her about trying to make a card for Mother's day last year. She told me about a vase template.

So off I went to the Sales and picked up a cheap bunch of silk flowers that I could cut up for this project.

I managed to find some cheap plastic glitter card and thought it would be great for the vase. But, boy! was it hard to work with. The crease/fold lines in the vase were far from perfect. So I added peel-off borders to these to try and hide some of the imperfections.

This worked a treat and I was delighted with the end result. As for Kay, well she was amazed that I had gone to so much effort - and this card was on display well after Mother's Day was over.

Butterflies - Thank You

This card was very simple to make and did not involve any fancy equipment. All I needed was a pair of scissors and a guillotine.

Daffodil - Thank You Card

This is another card that I have completed for Unit 1, using spellbinder labels four and Fancy Tags. All card from existing stock and the ribbon was recycled from an old chocolate box.



Daffodil is by Marij Rahder and the heart punch I picked up at a car boot sale.


The main feedback I got from the recipient is that they were not sure which way the card should stand, vertically or horizontally. But apart from that he was happy with the card.

Oriental Lady

This is a card that I have done for my Craft Qualification Unit 1. I used Spellbinder labels Eight to make the label and the 3D Decoupage

is from Marij Rahder. The ribbon and oriental designer paper was old stock that I have collected over time. The peel - off symbols were from an old oriental peel-off strip.

Introduction

Hi,
I am starting this blog mainly to share ideas for cards that I have made but I'm sure other things will get aired here, such as some of my holiday snaps etc .

The main format that I propose is that each blog entry shall contain a picture of the card along with a brief description of what went into making it. As I am always looking for suggestions on how to improve or see things from a different perspective - I welcome any constructive comments.
